What bullet would you choose for south/eastern WT (<200lbs) between the 100TSX, 110 Accubond, 117 hot core, or 90 scirocco in the 25-06. Most all shots will be <250 yrds.

I have a model 70 push feed that likes Federal factory 100 gr blue barnes X bullets. These northern deer do not like them at all. The rifle also does well with Hornaday 117 gr bullets handloads.
I have always tried to let a rifle dictate to me the loads and bullets it likes. I have some old style Barnes X that have a square hole broached instead of the round hole and cross notches like they use know. It shoots them well and the deer crumple when hit with them. My particular rifle does not do well with 100 gr Hornaday and 120 gr Nosler Partitions.
I guess I should qualify that, I get sub MOA with the 100 Barnes X factory and 117 Hornaday handloads.

Dancoman,
I would choose the one that shot the best. All four are excellent deer-sized-critter bullets, IMO

Have sighted in now with the 117 hotcores. Dime size groups at 100. May just stay there. Have never shot x bullets, but still might have to try.

I know this bullet isnt in there but I have shot a few deer with speer 100 gr spitzer, place the shot in the boiler and it will instantly destroy the lungs and heart, I dont believe you need a penetrating bullet for whitetail, a varming load will certainly do the job exp in the 25-06.

If your rifle likes the hot cores you have something to use. Now if you want you can mess with the rest for the fun of it.
I hunt northern whitetails and have taken a couple over 200# dressed. I will turn a bullet loose without having a perfect broadside shot. Under these conditions I am very much in favor of a premium bullet.

Nosler 110 Accubonds with a healthy charge of IMR 7828 and Fed 215s = dead deer and little groups

Many say the 25-06 suffers from lack of bullet selection for whitetails, varmints, etc but I beg to differ. I know you didn't mention this bullet but it should get you velocity, penetration, and it should shoot well to boot. In my humble opinion, I would take a long hard look at 100gr Nosler Partitions. They ought to be the very ticket for whitetails. You said that your shots will be within 250 yards so velocity/trajectory really shouldn't be an issue. the scirroco's are tough bullets but i'd like something a touch heavier. I would try the 117 gr accubonds out of the list you gave. If you happen to have any reloader 22 laying around, it seems to work very well with heavier bullets. If you need any other help, just shoot me a PM. I am new on here but I have had quite a bit of experienec with the 25-06.

Different gun, but same caliber bullet........ (.257 Wby Mag)
I shot a whitetail doe @ 50 Yds with a 100 gr. Sierra Gameking BT, MV 3450 fps or so (I think - 67.5 gr. RL-22) near Presque Isle, Wi. this season. The bullet clipped the scapula on the near side, entry to the lungs was 2" dia., and then it really blew up in the lungs. No trace of the bullet on the far side body cavity. No blood trail, she ran straight up a hill for 60 Yds, then fell over dead. She dressed out @ 160 Lbs.
While these bullets fly like a laser (5/8" high @ 100, 1 9/16 high @ 200, 1 9/16 low @ 300) and group less than moa, I would prefer a hole on both sides of the deer.
Guess it's time to play with the Barnes TSX's.

Fisrt deer was hit for a double lunger and bullet passed thru and spined the next deer. both deer fell right there. third deer was about 165yrds , double lunger also, ran about 35-40 yrds with blood pumpimg out TWO holes. forth was about 100yrds and was shoulder shot, lights out. Bullet was 117 hotcore. DM

These are Fed. fac loads. Box says 2990fps. I would bet that is from a 24'' barrel. My Pro Hunter has a 28'' barrel, so I'm just guessing here. +- 3200fps. Will try to crony soon. After I here more on the 110 Accubond,I may try them. Ain't it typical, have a great load and still want to play.
Iamsignal3, do you know the MV of your 110 AB load, along with trajectries.
thanks,DM
