Has anyone tried this and if so, how did you like it. I plan to hand load for and I bought a box to use to sightin, or at least get my new rifle on paper. Says on box it's made by Federal.

I have not shot it but in the latest Guns and Ammo magazine it appears shooters are big on it.

The most accurate factory ammo I have shot out of my .270, we are talking sporter at about an inch, I ended up taking a whitetail at 20 yds from treestand, hit in shoulder, did not exit and I did not recover it. I will use them again.

I bought a couple of boxes last fall. Some 180 gr (I think) 308 Win and some 140gr 280 Rem. They both shot as well as anything else does in either gun. The 280 is an old Remington semi auto that is not very accurate and the 308 is a Savage 99 that likes 150 gr more than 180's. They were both back up rifles and never were taken out of the case after checking POA in the mountains.

From what I understand ATK (parent company of Federal) has came up with a way to plate the lead core with heavy layer of copper instead of doing it the old way of making a jacket and then putting the lead core in it. It solves the problem that bonded bullets has always had when they make the jacket and then apply flux to the jacket, insert the core and then heat to get the core to bond to the jacket. Too much flux, uneven flux and heat or any water resulted in less then perfect bullets. Bullets have been plated for years but the problem has been when makers like Rainer tried to make the jackets thicker they ran into problems of uniformity. Now ATK thinks they have the problem fixed and they are saying that they can give a much more uniform heavy bonded jacket and do it cheaper then conventional methods. Was this done just for hunters?? No, you have to remember that ATK is the largest supplier of small arms ammo to the military and with this process they can do it cheaper.
Besides rifle and pistol bullets they are coming out with shotgun slugs and muzzleloader bullets.
Interesting side note, Speer (also now an ATK company) was one of the pioneers in bullet plating. The mighty Gold Dot and Uni-Cor bullets are plated bullets.

Used the box of Fusion ammo I bought at the range today to zero my new rifle. Chronographed it too. They were 165 Grain bullets and velocities were mostly over 3200 FPS with the top at 3030. Unfortunetely my test loads of hand loads didn't even come close.

I shot this stuff in my Cooper model 52 just to try it out.I was shocked at the Acuracy.165 gr shot under a half inch at 100 yards. I have a hard time beating that with reloads.I only shot two three shot groups, but I was impressed

Good to hear that Gunrunner. I might have to get a box and cut a bullet up to see how thick they got the jacket now. The Gold Dots and Uni-Cors had the plating about .018".

Gunrunner, they shot good for me to. I have come up with a load that I chronyed at an average of 3150 FPS and got a group around 3/4 ".

Was that a 150 gr in 30.06 that you got 3150 fps?

I toned that 30-06 down to 2900 FPS on the advice of my gun smith. Too hard on the auto loader. In this case I was talking about the 300 WSM with 165 grain bullets.

Bought a sps stainless in 270 and was at the range another fellow there was shooting the 130 gr fusion and he let me shoot a group in my new 270.I very seldom shoot factory loads but this one shot better than 90% of my reloads. If I was going to try a factory bullet these would be it. Under that circled x beneth the one holer with the fusions is a group I shot the week before with the 308,the other 2, 308 groups I shot the same day as the fusion.

I live in Newton but belong to a club that joins the PD refuge on the east side. I have been hunting the refuge some since it opened back in the 70's ( Ithink)Have taken a few good bucks there years ago with a bow.
It is a 2 hour drive to the club and refuge for me.

The Fusion's are going to hurt a lot of the prem. bullet sales. I got 11/4'' groups at 300yrds with them in my 280 pro hunter. Shot 4 times this week at WT and killed 5. 4 of the 5 dropped and the only one I had to track was the second deer hit with one shot. bullet passed thru both deer. Second deer ran about 50 yrds before pilling up. Went ahead and got some for my 25-06 to try. Everyone that I've talked to say's they are extremally accurate and hammer game. Will try the 225's in my 338wm also. and maybe my 7mag if I can get the same groups at 300 yrds.

My buddy shot approximately a 3 inch group at 500yds with the 165gr Fusion in the .300 mag, I told him to give them a try since the guys here were doing well with them, he dropped a elk in its tracks at 300yds with the 165.

Got to shoot the 120 gr fusion in my 25-06 pro hunter. 11/2 at 300yrds.
My brother bought a stevens 200 and was all over the place with the rem CL , the fed loaded 100 BT shot a little better and the fed 110Accubonds shot yet a little better. The 120 fusions printed dime size groups at 100. The first two were hole for hole with the third just high but could still be covered with a 10cent piece.
Next will be the 150's from my 7mag (Rem CDL SS Fluted).

went back yesterday and started out with a 11/4 group at 300 with 25-06. was about 7'' low so I was going to move up to about zero at 300(provided I didn't get above 3'' at 100) . Gun started spraying shots everywhere. Scope must have given it up. (sightron 4.5x14x50). Even came back to 100 and couldn't stay inside 5''. Mounted a new scope and will try again soon. I'm about 99% sure it's the scope. It shot great groups until I tried to adjust the scope.
