I'm getting ready to work up a load for my 300 WSM. The scope I mounted on is a Bushnell 3 - 9 which used to adorn my Savage ML. Last fall I bought a new Bushnell Elite 3200 in 4 - 12 and was more than pleased. The extra magnification made a world of difference at the range and shot almost my best group ever. The 3 - 9 is more than adequate for hunting but I wanted more magnification for range work. Now I want to shoot for accuracy with the new rifle to get a true idea of which loads work best. I'm considering taking the 3200 off of the Savage and putting it on the new rifle but then I'll loose the rain guard feature on the ML, which was also an important consideration when I bought it. I kind of on the fence on this one and wouldn't mind a few opinion.

A 4200 would even be better.

It is always easier to spend someone elses money. Put the 3200 on the new rifle and see what that gun will do. Then you can evaluate how you want to use them after havng experienced it on both guns.

Bubba, don't think I didn't consider that but it ain't gonna happen. Got enough strange looks after buying a rifle and a crony. For the sake of peace, another purchase will have to wait . Temporarily put the 3200 on it has crossed my mind. Will have to think on it

if you have the loui quick release mount on both guns you could switch back and fourth with just resighting in?

I think I've made a decision. I'm reluctant to take the scope off my Savage as I've got it shooting so good. Another alternative is the scope on my 22-250, which rarely gets out of the house these days. It's a Bausch and Lomb 4200 Elite in 6 - 24 with a 1/4 minute target dot. It should work even better than the 4 - 12 for load development.

Well, I did it. Right after my last post I headed to my gun room, pulled the scope off the 22-250, and replaced the 3 - 9. Used my laser bore sighter and bore sighted it. Now can't wait to shoot it.

Here's a picture of the finished unit. Sunshade makes it look long but works good in bright light at the range.

RAF think you have that 300 complete now you can show us some tiny groups.I know the rifle is cabable of shooting. It looks great and you can allways take the sun shade off. What gr bullet you wanting to shoot in it?I have a buddie that has 2 sako's,2 tikka's and 1 remington in 300wsm he shoots 180 gr sst's in all of his and I helped him work out the loads he shoots but don't remember what they are now, think we shot 150's,165 and 180's.If you are interested in those gr bullets I will check and see if he has the info for you if you want. Shot the group below tuesday out of my 308 tikka.Think you made a good choice on the tikka.

I'm planning on shooting 165 Grain. For my needs it should be a good all around bullet. I'm also going to use IMR4350. Bullets chosen at Hornady 165 Interbond. I've already made a bunch of test bullets in various powder charges from the manual min recommended 59 grains to the recommended max of 65.5. Also have a new box of Fusion 165 which I'll use to sight in before I do any load development. Once I've got it sighted in I shoot a few groups and see how it preforms.
