I wanted to get a new Savage synthetic stock rifle in 7mm-08 and have found them hard to find locally. However, have found the Stephens 200 readily available and at a great price. I understand that it is quite similar to the Savage model 10, but does not come with the Accu-trigger. That is quite a disappointment since I love the Accu-trigger on my ML-10.
I can find the Savage model 10s locally in 308 or 243 at reasonable prices, but only the Stephens in the 7mm-08 that I wanted.
Anyone have any experience with the Stephens model 200? Can the standard trigger be replaced with the Accu-trigger in these?

No - you can't retrofit the accutrigger to the Stevens, but you can buy an aftermarket trigger for it. Try Riflebasix or SharpShooterSupply - expect to spend about $100 bucks for one of those.
I absolutely love my Stevens in .223. If you want an inexpensive gun that shoots well - that would be the one that I would recommend.

timney makes a trigger for the savage/stevens which works on either and either model with the accu trigger and with out, check with midway they have them, and if you can follow directions the install is pretty easy. I have a 308 stevens that doesn't shoot worth a hoot, (2" @ 50) but I might of got a bad one
