As I said in another thread I'm looking for a new scope for my Tikka 300 WSM. I want 2 things, more magnification and rainguard. I decided a 3200 Elite in 4 - 12 would work nicely and it's what I put on my Savage ML last year. I checked my local store a while back and the prices were way out of line IMO. I found out why the scope he showed me then was so expensive. Besides the cross hairs there were a number of horizontal lines so you can shoot at different ranges(name of the feature escapes me at the moment as must be having a brain fart due to age . The fellow behind the counter explained that they've been selling lots of scope and stock was way down but they got another shipment recently and have a good supply. Anyway he showed me what I wanted and at the price I expected. Was about to buy when I saw another in the showcase that interested me. It was and 3200 Elite in 5 - 15X and $20 more. Both have AO so I decided to think about it for a day. What I'm looking for is your opinions.

i beleave the term you are looking for is bullet drop compensator? and it might have had a side focus. i have the 5x15 on my 30-06 and like it alot. it rained bad here in PA during rifle season and the rain guard helped. how much differance is there between the 4x12 and the 5x15? the 5x15 is all i could get with out being refurbished.

I made up my mind. This morning went back into shop and looked at both scopes. Noticed very little difference at the low end. Not much difference between 4 and 5 power. The extra magnification will be nice at the range. On top of all that for the extra $20 got a sun shield so I went with the 5 - 15. Now all I have to do is mount it and wait for warmer weather so I can go to the range. That likely won't be until spring
