Spent the weekend at my cottage at the lake. The whole place is a game preserve and there are lots of deer around. Lots of cottage owners feed the deer. When we got there, I filled the feeder. Throughout the evening my sensor lights kept coming on and there were always does feeding. After a while I suspected that the feeder might be empty, so went out to refill. As I walked across the driveway to my shed this forked buck was standing at the feeder. I stopped and looked at him and he ran off. Got a pail full of oats and as I went to the feeder gave it a couple of shakes. Poured in the oats and went back the shed to put the pail away. When I turned back the buck was back happily munching away. Went into the cabin and got the camera. Came back out and at about 25 ft took this picture. IMO the flash doesn't work as well as it should and thought I would see more but it wasn't to be. Anyway here he is. He was kind enough to lift his head and pose for the picture. The supprising thing is he was the only buck we saw. which is unusual. The rut is about to start and maybe the others are in the bush resting. This little guy probably figured he didn't stand a chance, so he might as well eat.
