I have numerous shots of this guy from my trail cam over the last three months. I'm thinking I'll let him walk one more year, since i think his rack is going to look kinda skinny once he sheds velvet. I'm guessing he is 2.5 years old, 3.5 max. I'll have to make the call during early muzzleloader season. I, along with most of the neighbors, practice QDM with a 3.5 year minimum.

It would be nice to have him around a little longer to get his gene pool established for having more nice racks around in the future.
Just a thought.

If you look at this photo, his left G2 is forked. He wouldn't score real well as a typical, yet next year he could blow up into a huge non-typical freak! ;D

Hey I am attracted to non-typical but not freakish. Same for the lady in my life who definitely isn’t your typical woman for sure. ;D Ed

Chas, I used to kill the first antlered buck that came by during season. I was more of a meat hunter than anything else. When I first started deer hunting in the 70's, there was a lotto for antlerless tags and I prayed I would get drawn so I had a better chance at bringing home some venison. Now, I really don't care if I fill my tag and am just happy to spend time sitting. Not shooting the first buck allows me to sit longer! ;D To each his own, I have no problem with people shooting whatever it is that makes them happy. We should all be hunting for our own reason. I know if I shoot him, I have no chance of seeing what the future holds. Another factor that helps is that I'm confident the neighbors will let him walk, and if they don't, he ain't the biggest boy in the 'hood. I've seen others this year that would make this guy wet himself as he ran away. Just haven't been lucky enough to get them in front of the trailcam.
