Got this one with my trusty ol Knight Disc at a range of about 65yards. I had to shoot him somewhere he would drop fast because he was 5 steps away from what we call the "impact area". There is no trespassing in there so if you shoot one and he heads in there, he's gone. So I shot him high and in the spine, dropped instantly and expired in about 15 seconds. He's a perfect 8 pointer with a 9th point growing out of the skull cap in front of the rack. Ed

Wow. Did I say Wow? I meant WOW!
Nice deer.
I hate Al Gore, though. Hunting in sweat stained tshirts just ain't right, somehow. My globe is warmed. I ain't sure I did it, but it's for sure warmed up. I sure wish our state would forego this STUPID early M/L season and they'd give us back that 16 day season at the end of December.
But you have to go when you can, and you did just that, and this is one nice deer. We won't see this kind of deer till it gets cold, but other folks sure seem to! Nice shot. Nice deer. Congrats.

One law I could support would be one that cannot prevent a hunter following a wounded animal onto posted land. I have land that I control hunting on but anytime someone need to follow a wounded deer onto my land they are not only welcome but will get assistance if needed. IMO it is cruel to not to recover an amimal just because it crossed a man made boundry. If I wound one (God forbid) I will go whereever I need to go to recover it. If some stupid judge rules that my oxygen will be cut off for a few days then so be it. U know, there is something about being on oxygen that makes us somewhat contrary. I will try to do what is right but I will have a part in deciding what is right.

I guess I should elaborate what the impact area is. I am in the military and hunt on the base. The impact area is where we shoot everything from mortars to rockets and howitzers. There are a lot of unexploded ordinance in there and one wrong step could render you a memory. Thats why it is off limits.

The hunter who follows a deer into that type impact zone should first be awarded the hunters Medal Of Honer and then be discharged from the service on grounds of stupidity.
