In the BPC guns, what are your favorite types? I like single shots myself. My .50 Smith Carbine is a fun gun even if it needs a percussion cap! ;D For the self contained cartridges, I do love the military type guns and love the look of the Trapdoor Springfield. I did fire an original and fell in love with the type. I would love to own one. Probably will eventually.

Hi Tele, Seems I have always had a facination with Sharps rifles. The heft and feel of them says they mean business. To me they are a nice looking rifle, yet simple and straight-forward in function. I actually like any of the old guns or their reproductions, Sharps just happen to be my favorite. Ted K

I've got a Shiloh 1863 carbine in 54 cal. if paper cartridges count. Also a copy of a Stevens 44 1/2 in 45-70 which shoots well. I've got a Shiloh 1874 #3 Sporter in 45-70 on order but it will be months before it is ready. I'd like to start shooting BP Silhouette but I can't find anyone in this area to team up with. You really need some one to shoot with so that you can spot for each other in matches.

I've got a Shiloh 1863 carbine in 54 cal. if paper cartridges count....... I consider a gun like your Sharps and my Smith to be the forerunners of the metallic cartridge gun. After all, before the copper jacket bullet, there was the paper patched bullet. So it is that before the self contained metal cartridge, there was the breechloader with the paper (linen, rubber, etc.) cartridge with the priming cap on a nipple instead of the end of a brass case. Actually in the case of my .50 Smith Carbine, I do have some brass cartridges in addition to the plastic ones that I reload before every range session.

I love the .50-70 Trapdoor Springfield Rifle. (NOT carbine) That's what I'd love to have. But the Mauser 71/81 Bolt rifle is neat too.
The High Wall Winchester single shot is also very cool. My wife's uncle had one in .40-60.

A good friend. I'm not at liberty to release the name, at least not yet anyway.

I don't know if you could call it my favorite gun or not, but my "dream gun" is a Sharps in either .45-110 or .50-140. I have always wanted both and may have to get both before I get too old to shoot. ;D

Got a Friend with a 50-140 who claims it kills on one end and wounds on the other at the same time.
