Anyone out there shooting a Green Mountain 4140 black powder cartridge rifle barrel? Recently, for the testing of the Leatherwood "Wm. Malcolm" telescopic tube sight, I ordered one of the 35" long 1 1/4" diameter .45 barrels and had it shipped to Jim Leatherwood. He cut the barrel to 32 inches, chambered it for .45-70, and installed it on a slightly reworked original Remington rolling block action. And with one of the 6x pre-produciton samples of the Malcolm scope aboard, he has been shooting minute of angle accuracy (and better) out to 300 meters. Jim, who has shot a lot of different long-range, deadly accurate sniper rifles (after all, he did develop and patent the drop compensating ART sniper scopes that are still being used in Iraq and Afghanistan) says this is one of the most accurate rifles/barrels he has ever shot. More will appear on this old-fashioned long-range rig on the Leatherwood website soon, at www.leatherwoodoptics.com . Toby
