Opener for us Minnesotans is tomorrow. The weather is suppose to be rainy and windy. I am hoping to get something, as I have a sweet spot and high hopes. Wish me luck!

Well I hosed an 11 yard shot at a doe. the shot was from an elevated box stand, and I had to contort around a tree and shoot through a small gap, but one I should have made and missed! The doe and 2 youngins took me by surprise, I got too excited and rushed the shot. I am going to tell myself that it was only the second day of a very long season and I will have many more opportunities. I am chomping at the bit to get back out there, and planning to play hooky from work this coming Friday to hit some state land.

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt . First couple times I went out, and was new to the archery game , I forgot that you tend to shoot high from an elevated spot. Was about 12 - 15 feet above a deer at 30 yds. Used my 30 yds pin and sure enough shot right over it. Did that a couple time before the light came on between my ears .

So your saying that I'm not doomed? I plan to keep trying, but it was a very good opportunity and my hunting buddies will not let me live it down until I come through. Even my buddy that shot his own stand two years back is giving a little crapolie. Thanks for the feedback.

You're not doomed just hang in there.Don't think there is a bow hunter out there that has not missed an easy shot at least once. Just took my number 36 with a bow friday,22 yd shot through a ceder tree and a big red oak that was very tight, deer dropped at the shot,(first one out of the 36 that didn't run when hit.7point,with 14 in spread, weighed 165 lbs. Last year missed a doe at 20 yds standing broad sided and wide open. ;D Have fun and hope you get a big one.
