After all these years of keeping my fat butt on the ground, I reckon I need a tree stand for archery hunting. I am a healthy size fella about 210 lbs and right at 6 foot tall, so a top quality, sturdy climber is want I want. I also need a very nice safety harness, something that will not strangle me when I fall out, as I am sure sooner or later I will. I need the best when it comes to the safety harness. Can you guys steer me right on that decision as well. Thanks Rifleman

Of the stands made today Id say Summit would be the best one for strength and stability. Buy a good vest type body harness . They run around 100.00. Good stand will be 250.00 or so. mike

One buddy uses one of the Summits and the other uses a North Starr, very similar but the North Starrs band is made of stiffer metal and supposedly will not loose its rigidity like the other brands over time and use. I like the North Starr a little better. I would go for something with adjustable straps that connect the seat and platform so you can adjust it to your body so you are not uncomfortable while hunting for long periods, and the models with the hanging seat seem to be the berries. I don't use a climber now "I use climbing gaffes and hang ons" but if I was going to buy one I would go with the North Starr. JMO

Dwight,
Get a Goliath ( summit ), I am about your size, only more muscle ( table muscle that is ), and it is what you need, I had the viper, it was too small & restricting !

After doing alot of checking around I ordered a Summit 180 max, made for big hunters and allows you to face the tree or sit with your back to the tree. I also ordered a safety vest/safety belt system. The stand has not arrived yet, as I received notice from Bass Pro that it was backordered and would arrive in 30 days or less. Since this is a new product for this year, I suppose it is in high demand. Bubba, I am not quite the man I was last year at this time, as I have dropped about 35lbs. Still trying to get under 200 but that last 5 lbs is stubborn. I ordered the Max, since my son is such a big guy and he is gonna order a stand soon too, that way we can swap stands if for some reason we ever wanted to.
