Missed a shot at a good little 4 point this morning. This would've been my first buck w/ a bow. Oh well. He spotted me in the tree!! And then offered me a "quartering towards" shot. I shouldn't have tried the shot. I had to make a quick decision. I figued I'd never see him again since he had me in his sight. On a travel trail from bedding to cornfield/watering hole. I'm frustrated. Kevin

It happens Kevin. Look at it this way, No damage done unless the broadhead and arrow was ruined. Next time you are spotted freeze in place. Often the deer will decide you are not a threat and continue with whatever mission they were on. I have had them stare and then try to catch scent but when that doesn't give them an answer they calm down.

Well I hunted there again this morning. I saw nothing. The deer are so skittish in this area, it seems. Maybe it's just my impatience! I'm willing to at least consider that possibilty> I think I may need to relocate my stand as I think they (deer) are 'on to me'.

I'm anxious for tennessee's ML season. First week in Nov. Beginning of the rut, or pre-rut, if ya prefer. But yesterday's miss just nags me. Oh what a well placed 250 grain xtp with 45 grains of VV 110 or 4759 would have done. Ya wanna know what nags at me the worst. I could have, or would have probably ended up wounding that deer taking that shot that I took. It was very irresponsible and very foolish. I had my bow drawn and he was about to offer me the quartering awy shot that I was wanting, but he spotted me and started walking towards my tree looking up at me (the sun was in his eyes). I knew it was now or never. The right thing would have been to back off the draw, and let him go. But in the excitement, I took the shot. I'm so glad I missed. To hit a vital at that angle was unlikely. In my mind, I guess I was thinking I could hit his neck and break it . The thought of wounding an animal and not recovering it is in no way acceptable to me. It's got me seriously thinking about hanging up the matthews LX. Y'all have a good nite. Kevin
