Yesterday my dad and I set up at tree stand at about noon. We went in real quite because we were going to try to sneak in later that evening. On the way home I looked in the back seat and I saw my bow there , so we turned around and I sprayed down and went back up the hill. I sat there for about 20 minutes and then a little button buck walked by . He came right underneath my stand. I though about droping him right there but I wanted to make sure it was a good shot. I let him walk out and turn sideways but he didn't turn. About 30 minutes later a small doe came out from behind me from all these briers and walked out about 25 yards away , so then she tuned her head and I drew back. I was just about to get my sights on her when buck fever came in. I had to let my bow down. Well then she walked up the hill. Then another doe came from behind. She was a big doe and i thought she was pretty neat because she had a white halo around both eyes. well that big doe saw me move and jumped back in the thicket. Then at about 6:35 p.m. that first small doe came back and made a big circle and swung out about 15 yards away and I made that bleat noise and she stoped.WACK!!!!!!!!!!! Thats all ;D

Congratulations savageboy. Good work and great self control. Waiting for that sure shot has never been easy for me. You have been there and you have passed the test with flying colors. WOW, makes even an old 79 year old man say: "COOL'.

WOW, makes even an old 79 year old man say: "COOL'. Ozark,He has only lost one deer in his very young hunting career. That deer left a very deep impact on him.Sometimes when I am right beside him and he has his Savage and he is drawing down,it seems it takes a eternity for him to get settled and drop the hammer.I know it is because of the lost deer.He has not lost a deer since that evening. It has been, one shot, one kill.I am very proud of him,in case you couldnt tell!..LOL!!

Great job Q. There is something special about taking a deer with a bow up close and personal and not making any noise doing it. Now you know that feeling. You and your dad obviously picked the right spot (that's half of it) and you overcame your buck fever and made the shot (the other half). You are off to a great start with your hunting career! I wish you many successful years.
