In Jesus’ time a dogwood grew to a stately size and a lovely hue. ‘Twas strong and firm as oak branches interwoven, for the cross of Christ its timbers were chosen. Seeing thee distressed at this use of their wood, Christ made a promise that still holds good. Never again shall the dogwood grow large enough to be used so. It shall slender and twisted be, with blossoms like the cross for all to see. As blood stains the petals marked in brown, the blossoms center shall wear a thorny crown. All who see it will remember me crucified from the cross of a dogwood tree. Cherished and protected this tree shall be a reminder to all my agony.

I did my first solo preformance in a little church in Fallbrook CA while in the Marine Corps about 2 years ago. The song I sang was a song recorded by a good friend Ronnie Bowman called " Three Rusty Nails."
After the song was finished and we were dismissed an older lady of the church approched me to ask if I knew about the legend of the dogwood tree. "No," I replied. The very next sunday she had brought me a wall piece with that very text on it....of course that was after she pelted me with tomatoes and booed ;D

I'd love to hear the song. Can you make a tape of you singing it for me?

Well to be quite honest, I havent played much in the past few months. Let me knock the dust off and get my recording stuff set back up. It would have to be CD though.
