In the morning my son will be receiving his very own turkey shotgun. Because of his height he can't hold my 12 up and be steady so i bought him a Rem,870,20ga,youth model. If i could manage to help him get his first bird this spring it would make my whole season more special than if i limited out myself. He is 8 and is chomping at the bit to go again. I took him on a couple of hunts this past spring but now after lots of hours on the range shooting he is finally ready to put a FULL bead on a bird. I cant wait to go!!

Scott41069 I can imagine seeing the joy explode from the face of the young lad this morning as he opened his present. Then the continuous requesting of being able to at least fire a shot or two or three from it. This will be a memory imprinted in him for a lifetime along with the first turkey he does harvest. Hope this event does happen in the near future for a bonded memory to be shared a lifetime. Best Wishes. Ed T

Scott, great gift for your son there! I think sometimes parents start the kidos out with way too much gun as to weight, size etc. and somtimes turns them off or makes if tuff for them to fully enjoy this great sport. That 20 ga with right choke and load is a very effective turkey gun for sure. Hope he gets a chance at baggin one.

On Christmas morning Bradley received his shotgun and to say he was happy was an understatement. He couldnt wait to go shoot it so after all the christmas day activities had dwindled down we headed out for a shoot.I had one box of shells (2-3/4, 7-1/2 oz). He got to shoot it 7 times and his older sister wanted to shoot it also. She is 11. She said "I only want to shoot one time Dad" so i showed here how to work the slide (she normally shoots a single shot) and she proceeded to nail the target with that first shot. After that shot she said "can i shoot it again" and that continued on until we didnt have any more shells. I was pleased by theyre enthusiam towards shooting it. They are both ready to go back for more and i cant wait to go either. I cant immagine a better way to spend the day then have my kids with me doing some shooting.
