I have been hunting hard since the season started here. Started out opening day on our lease and was fortunate enough to take a good longbeard at 7:32a.m. Things got kinda slow for me after that. I had a few opportunities that went south before being able to connect on my second bird on 4/20. Three days later on 4/23 i took my 3rd bird. Each bird was at least a 2 yr old bird. In between hunting those birds i was able to help a good friend get his first longbeard of the yr and his second ever. It came off of roost and landed in our set up.Probably the biggest highlight of the yr for me was helping my brother take his first bird. He got a bearded hen. I was really excited for him.I have been hunting a lot and not been able to post. It has been a blast so far. Turkey season here in Tennessee is a time when we get to hunt with friends that we havent seen in a while.Nothing like getting together with old and new friends on a hunting outing and sharing the woods. I love it!Here are the three birds i harvested.

Scott41069 I am a little envious that you have already tagged 3 birds and I haven’t had a chance at getting one yet. ;D Congrats on your success. Know what you mean for being out in the woods and sharing a hunt with friends. Then when the bonus of success arrives on such a hunt it makes for a great outing. Ed Theiss

Three birds already - nice job! How many more can you whack? What happen to Tom #2? Did he take a tumble into a creek? Also, the trees in TN are greening-up fast. We have hit a cold snap that should slow things down a bit.
I've got some pictures to post, but I do it so seldom that I have to relearn the process each time.

I had to walk out a good distance with him so he looked kinda rough when i got back to the truck. We can take 3 birds statewide during the regular season and then take a 4th bird (called bonus bird) on certain Wildlife Management Areas. Next yr they are considering upping the regular turkey quota up to 4 birds in ceratin counties.

So, what is the cost and availability of out-of-state licenses? Iowa is brutal to out-of-state hunters: $100 for turkey tag $ 80 Non-resident hunting license $ 9 Habitat Fee
Just call it $200 for 1 bird. Some states penalize Iowa hunters because we abuse their hunters when they come here.
If you are a non-resident, buy your license after 12/15 and the license is good for: example = 12/15/05 is good through 1/10/07.
Hunt pheasants, deer and turkey - then it's not so bad.
By the way, I ship alot of cob to Knoxville. It is sold grit blast log homes to restore the natural color of the logs.
I think I'm going hunting in the AM. Will check the radar first b/c rain is a possibility.

So, what is the cost and availability of out-of-state licenses? All Tn hunting lic. went up this yr on April 18th. Non Resident All Game- $251.00 Non Resident 7-Day All Game-$175.50 Non Resident Small Game/Waterfowl-$91.00 They raised it enough that i think it will stop a lot of people from coming in to hunt. Some die hard Turkey hunters will still come down because you can legally kill 3 turkeys and next yr will probably go up to 4 birds.
