I can't seem to find any 2 3/4" 20 gauge shells designated as "turkey loads". Everything I see listed in catalogs are for 3" shell and my gun appears to be chambered for 2 3/4" shells. Are they available or am I hostage to using standard loads? Thanks.

I think you will have to use standard loads. However, that is not all bad because the turkey loads are not a lot different. Try patterning you gun with high brass 4 and 6s and you may well find you have a winner. Keep in mind that the so called turkey load is mostly made to sell guns and ammo and not necessiarly because they shoot better. Tom Turkey doesn't know the difference.

They offer a 2.75 " load just look for Item # 2001. www.nitrocompany.com/ammunition.htm

Savage Shooter, Normally I don't cough on price but these appear to be excessive. I am interested if they have a 20 Ga. Turkey load. I will look again but I didn't see the shot size etc. I may just bite my tongue and order a box because turkey season is just around the corner. Any help from you will be appreciated. I am sending you a PM.

I am sending you a PM. Look down the page at the Turkey and Predator loads (Item 2001). There is a 2.75" load listed with copper plated lead shot. Shot size from #2 up to #7 are available. I would call them and talk to them about the 2.75" load. They have done extensive load patterning with different loads and can be a big help in maximum performance. i.e I shoot a 3" 12 ga Browning Gold that has the back bored barrel. For many years my rule of thumb is to get pellet counts of at least 100 on a 10" diameter at 40 yds. This can be hard to accomplish with many guns and loads. Last year I bit the bullet and ordered some of the Hevi Shot triplex loads of 4X5X7 and bought a Jelly Head choke tube as recommended by Nitro. Well, my pellet counts now are always over 150 and many are over 160 @ 40yds. The #7's mixed in are awesome and remember that with Hevi Shot the 7's weigh nearly the same as 5's in lead so energy is not a problem. Now the 2.75 loads offered are copper plated lead but I bet that a duplex of 4 & 6's would be awesome in the 20ga 2.75 loads. And I bet that he would load them in Hevi Shot if so desired. I was not a big Hevi Shot fan (due to patterns) until I hit on my current combo. Makes a true 50 yd gun like it is now.

It may be a little late, but in the future start looking in the early winter. I found some 20 gage Hevi shot #6. The seem to put 6 or more pellets in the head \neck of one of those turkey targets at 40 yards. They were seven and a half bucks for 10 shells. They were in the waterfowl section of a BassPro Shop. Kind of pricey, but two for the pattern board and eight for turkeys should last for several years.
