Marrying early, working as a nurse and rearing three children made Teresas first turkey kill a little late. She is fifty now and wanted to buy a licence and try for one. A couple trips produced nothing except hearing a few clucks and yelps. We were seperated by about two hundred yards but had radio communication. A hen came into the food plot she was watching but later six jakes came out into the plot and as they criscrossed eachother she shook like a leaf. She selected one and beging preparing to fire. She tried to take aim and after a bit discovered that she had the wrong eye closed and couldn't get on the bird. Finally with the correct eye closed she aimed and fire. The Jake went down good but Teresa decided to pump another shell into the chamber and kill it a second time. She was one excited girl when she made the kill. Excitement was bubbling out all over and she was so proud of the bird and herself that it is indescribable. It was a nice large healthy Jake but to her it was a trophy. I was happy to have been her hunting partner when she got her first one. I am guessing that she will be going again and again. She said her legs were shaking uncontrolable while she tried to handle the job. She done it well and I am proud of her.

Mr. Ozark,
Congratulations to you and your daughter. Being her elder by a year and having just taken up the sport of turkey hunting, I can appreciate her elation. Having been with my daughter when she took a black bear I can appreciate your pride in her. I am very glad for you both.

It can be a great experience to be able to hunt with a son or daughter. After they have grown and often moved farther away because of jobs it can be difficult to do. A nice write up.

These birds were in the exact spot my daughter killed hers. Probably she got one of these.
