I hadn't hunted turkeys for about 10 yrs and decided to try for one with my bow this year. Went out 3 days without much luck and on the forth day, in the morning had one get within 100 yrds and hung up on a fence. Left them alone most of the day and went back in the afternoon and set up on the other side of the woods where I thought they might have been heading, well sure enough at 4.00 pm I got an answer and shortly after 3 jakes showed up and noticed my decoys. They caught me flat footed and I tucked myself behind some cedars and was able to get off a shot at the largest of the the 3 , not much of a beard ( 4 inches) but he weighed in at 16.5 lbs. I got him with my Mathews Switchback (22yrd shot) , gold tip arrows and an allen expandable broadhead, I managed to double lung him and distance travelled was 15 yrds.

Any turkey with a bow is a trophy. Nice to put a face with the name.

Good for you. I have taken a few with a crossbow. As they say, if a turkey could smell as good as a deer they would never be taken at close range. They are dumb but they don' question what they see. Thanks for sharing.

Congrats! A true feat for sure.
I'd love to bag one with a bow.
