Guys I have relatives in VT and am going out in fall 2008 to visit. I want to hunt while there and looking at VT website it is about as confusing as any other state. If you live in / are familair with VT hunting regs I sure would appreciate any guidance you can provide. I plan on applying for a Moose lottery tag or hunting bear or deer. Also can one use smokeless muzzleloaders there? Thanks. Rman

Dwight, This is what I found on their web site: Definition of ammunition for muzzleloaders:black powder or other suitable non-smokeless propellant, and single ball or bullet. Sounds like you are good to go!This was on page 20 of the Hunting and Trapping info section.

Thanks, I am planning on entering the lottery for the moose permit, so it's either the Savage/300 gr Barnes or the 30-06 with 180 gr Barnes. But I gotta get drawn first. If not I will go for bears or deer.

Wait a minute...."Definition of ammunition for muzzleloaders:black powder or other suitable non-smokeless propellant, and single ball or bullet." That does say other NON-SMOKELESS propellant. I'd say you are not good to go with the Savage. I assume you are using SMOKELESS correct?
