I need some opinions and/or advice......... figgured this is a decent place to ask I was recently reloading for the 45-70 using lee dies. After seating the bullet and before crimping the bullet, the bullet appears to be off center ( for lack of better descriptions ) relative to the center of the case. There is a visable buldge on half or so of the case (at the base of the bullet) and not on the other half. At first I thought that I was not flaring correctly or enuf, so I switched from the LEE flaring die to the Dillon flaring tool (powder die) and I have the same results. The culprit is the seating die, but I do not know what to do to eliminate the problem - any suggestions? The loads are working well, shooting MOA @ 100yards. thanks! -bubba

bubba,
It almost sounds like your outer die is up too high in relation to the seating punch! Can you dial back to OAL, and then turn the outer die down into your press the same amount?
The outer die should have the case supported before the punch starts seating the bullet.

Never had this problem before, followed the directions..... the only concern is that if I turn it down too far, then it starts crimping while seating..... I have a seperate crimping die & station. I will try that tho, I understand what you are saying, screw the die in and screw the OAL knobby ( technical term ) out. wilco & report back later - thanks! -bubba
