300 Win Mag. Rem 700. w/SS B. (CCI Mag Primers in all)
1) IRM 4350 - 69 Gr. - 220 Gr. Speer RN - 2710 FPS. ME over 2600 Hard hitter (Big Game)
2) IRM 4350 - 71 Gr. - 180 Gr. Speer SP - 2951 FPS. ME.2590 Moose, carabu
3)IRM 4350 - 77 GR. - 150 GR Speer SP - 3400 FPS. ME 2850 Moose, Carabu, White tail
4)IRM 4350 - 75 GR. - 125 GR. or 130 GR. Speer SP 3300 FPS. ME. 2645 White tail coyote
Thes loads were worked up using the Speer # 8 manuel from the early 1970. I have compared these loads to the # 13 Speer manual and the new book is much more consertive.
Exanples: 4350 POWDER
# 8 Book #13 Book
bullet MIN GR. MAX GR. MIN GR. MAX GR.
125 79 83 74 79 150 75 79 72 76 180 73 77 67 71
As you can see many of these loads that I worked up are above max according to the new book, but well with in the guid lines of the older #8 book. I could never get near the max loades in the # 8 book. So if you decide to use any of these loads start 2 to 4 grains lower and work up looking for pressure signs. These loads work and this is a very consistant powder. I have taken all the animals with the listed loads and not had one go more than 50 to 75 yards.

The # got crunched all togeather in compareing the two books when the post printed sorry. If you look at it you should be able to decode it.

I've been kicking the idea around of buying a 300 win mag but can't quite convince myself. It seems a little heavy for white tail and I don't hunt moose or elk although I'd like to. Everytime I think about it I think about what load I'd use so this has been very helpfull.

I don't say much on these cased rifles but since I see many are using some form of 4350 I would comment on how I get excellent results with my 300 shooting 150 and 165 grain bullet. My rifle like a COL of between 3.2 and 3.33" and the Speer bullet.
I also have great results with this powder and my 300WSM shooting the same weight bullets but that rifle likes the Sierra (165 grain) bullet.

300 Win Mag is a great cart. But I have shot Moose, Elk and Caribou using only a .308 using a 165 bullet. All were one shot kills and none went very far. The 165 in the 308 is the same speed and ME. as the 30-06. The rifle is much lighter and the recoil is less and I use 1/2 as much powder and carry 1/2 as much weight. My Rem 700 ,300 Win Mag has not been out for exercise sence I strarted using the 308.

Joe you must have an awefully light weight 308 or a boat anchor of a 300 to carry half the weight -bubba

My 300 Win Mag weights 9.75 w/ scope and sling. My 308 weight just under 5 w/ scope and rings. The o8 has a fibeglass - kevlar stock I built and the action has no extra materal on it. Light, short, and very accurat. Looks like close to 1/2 the weight to me!!

Yes it is. Started life at 6 Lb. Ultra Light, then I put it on a diet. Stock saved 18 oz. over wood and extra materal removed from action saved even more and it is topped with a light weight (11 oz) scope. My scope rings and trigger guard are even drilled to help cut the weight. I wanted to flute the barrel but was told it is way to thin to remove any . The barrel dia. is the only thing that I could not lighten.
