Forty five years ago I used to shoot 55 grains of 4350 and 87 grain bullets and 120 grain bullets and 52 grains. This is from my distant memory bank, you could check a loading manual and google to get current loads to verify. Some shoot 75 grain bullets now as their lights and 100 grain bullets as their deer loads. I once shot 60 grain pistol bullets but that was a failure.

I use RL19 under 85 NBT, 100 NBT's & 100 Barnes TSX. RL22 under 110 NAB's & 115 NP's. Primers 210 GMM and RP brass (neck sized for target, full length once fired for hunting). FWIW I see little need to go even to the 115 NP for deer sized game. 100gr TSX if close range, pin shooter, etc. 110 NAB if a shot at 50 yards are as likely as 350. 100 NBT if antelope or deer where the ranges would be 150 +. Currently I use the 100NBT for plinking and antelope hunting. This fall a young hunter will be using it and the plan is 110 NAB's, as he will be chasing mulies in the open country and whitetails in a blind in cover .
I try and find the best powder for the bullet/ cartridge. In the likes of the 2506 the lighter the faster burn and heavier the slower burn. However if looking for 1 powder to try and do everything I'd try Imr 4350, 4831 or RL19 or similar powders in this slot. Realizing that in the larger grain for cal area you'll be giving up effeciency or velocity. Certainly doesn't mean it won't shoot though.
Best of luck

I have a 26" heavy .25-06 barrel on an Encore and it won't shoot any lighter bullet more accurately than 3/4" to date, but will shoot 1/4" groups with the Berger 115gr VLD using regular Remington 9 1/2 primers and 55.5gr Reloader 22. This load verges on Red-Line in Hornday's 7th Edition Handbook for 117gr bullets, so you should start out lower than the 55.5gr mentioned.

I'm getting 3175fps with this load in the 26" 1:10 twist barrel. A shorter barrel may need a tighter twist to stabilize the VLD's.

I have a Reminton 700 Sendaro in 25-06, and it seems to prefer the H4831SC. I don't remember the charge weights off the top of my head. I think I was pushing a 85gr NBT at 3400fps, but don't quote me on that. The poweder is a little slow for the 85gr bullets, but accuracy wise it made a good combination.
The rifle REALLY liked the H4831SC for the 115 NBT bullets. Again, I can't remember the charge, but it was a max load, and it would shoot one hole 5 shot groups at 200 yards. I was feeling cocky one day, so I put up some playing cards at 200 yards, and 5 shots later I had cut 3 of them in half. For heavier bullets, I've heard a lof of guys get really good accuracy with the H4831SC. 115 gr bullets seem to be over kill for deer (from what I hear anyway, never hunted them with it), but they shoot so well that I never bothered working up a load for 100gr or 110gr bullets. Just my 2 bits, Mark

To hear some guys talk, you'd think that it's not a big enough gun. Seems a lot of guys like the 100 gr bullets because you get a flater trajectory. I think the 100s are a bit light myself. But since I live in Indiana, it doesn't really matter. I can only say that the 85gr NBT does a good job on coyotes.

I use 100 gr Barnes X. The old fashioned one. I bought a bunch sometime ago. I use CCI large rifle primers, WW brass, and enough RL-22 to get it to 3100 fps. It may just be overkill, even on these UP big bodied bucks. Open country gun or not, I use it in the bigwoods. IMO smaller caliber rifles, like the 25-06 truly need premium bullets.

Is it possible to overkill a whitetail with a 25-06? ;D ;D ;D Are there degrees of dead? I have a Rem 700 and it is just amazing how the deer respond to getting hit with it. I have seen several drop on the spot. Feed them premium ammo and you will not be disappointed. DC

I use to shoot H4831SC Remington primers Sierra 100 gr BTSP part number 1625. Never shot anything but paper. But it was a .25 MOA load out to 600 yards. I really like the 2506.
