I have a BPS in 10 ga. that has a bulge about 6 in from the muzzle. What do you guys feel , if any, problems this will cause. I believe this happened when I shot at a duck and had a reduced charge, could have been wet. The shot did come out and the follow up shot downed the duck . New shell too? Red Club

I'll almost bet that the wad didn't come out until the next shot! How bad is the bulge? Can you get either a dial caliper on the outside of the barrel and measure it, or a inside diameter barrel reader to "mic" the inside? www.shotgunsportsmagazine.com/products/baker_gauges.htmlUsually a good gunsmith will have a barrel mic. If it's only a couple of thousanths, then I wouldn't worry about it, but if it's more, then I would send it back to Browning for a thorough check. Blue-Dot-37.5

Redclub If you can see or feel a bulge then consider this. Every time you fire a shot through this bulge the shot load will expand and be forced to sharply contract again. If steel shot is used then look out. If it were me then the cost of another barrel is far cheaper than serious injury. Just my opinion. Ed T

Sounds to me like you have a good barrel to use for a cutdown riot gun! ;D

Thanks for the input. Thats what I was afraid of. The bulge is bad enough that the rib came loose. I used it one day last season and missed a very very easy shot at a goose (not that I am immune to missing) I put it away for the year. I am getting too old to lug that thing around anyway. However resale value is gone Red Club

I'll take it off your hands! How long is the barrel now?
