Nitro makes custom shotgun ammunition that is very expensive and some claim performance make it worth every cent. If their ammunition is truly superior to what I have been using then I would pay the extra dollars for a better Turkey killing load. Let me arm you with what I have and maybe that will lead you advising me. I shoot a 20 gage Mossberg 500 equipped with a good scope that is adjusted to the center of a pattern. I have been shooting Win Supreme no 4 shot. I set for my personal effective range 35 yards but the last one I shot was a lazered 40 yards and it did a good job of anchoring the bird. I have used Extra full Undertaker choke.
Nitro recommends that I use a 4-5-7 shot load of Heavy shot at 1 and 13/16 Oz's. They want me to use a Rhino 575 choke and claims that this load will get from 150 to 170 pellets into a 12 inch plate at 40 yards. They don't mention how many of those pellets will the no 7 shot the shells are going to cost roughly $4.00 each and I don't have the price on the suggested choke tube yet. Someone did mention that their ammo was worth the extra cost but I have forgotten which member said that. My dilemma is that I have a nice effective setup now but would gladly pay the extra if it would actually produce a better load for turkey. If you have had experience with their shells please let me know what the skinny is. Thanks for helping me . Ben
