For Skeet shooting and few outings a year for a meal of Woodcock I normally use 1-1/8 oz. #7-1/2 shot in 12Ga. Some shooters prefer a 1oz. load but my over/under requires a certain amount of recoil to reset the trigger for the other barrel and a 1oz. load is usually insufficient to accomplish this. Even though my 2 – 12Ga. Shotguns are capable of handling 3” shells I still use a lot of 2-3/4” hulls.
For this load I use 2-3/4” Federal Hi-Power Plastic Shells with Fiber Base Wads; #7-1/2 Shot - 1-1/8 oz. Powder - Hodgdon Universal – 26.5gr. Wad - Fed. 12S3 Primer - Instead of Fed. 209A as suggested I use CCI 209M that is not quite as hot. Velocity suspected is just below 1300 fps with pressure under 9400PSI.
For fiber base wad hulls I recommended to watch for exposure to moisture absorption that can play havoc with loads.
