Anyone load for the little 410? If so what set up do you use? Is it feasable compared to the price of 410 shells?
Thanks, Spool

spool:
I know of a couple of guys that reload for the .410. It is a lot cheaper than buying the shells at the store, but they don't use a progressive machine. The shells rock too much and they think reloading is just as fast on a single stage machine.

I reload 410 shells on a progressive loader and they don't rock round. I guess it depends on the type of loader. I have a PW (Ponsness Warren) which I have been loading on for the last 25 yrs. I also have a Dillion SL900 which I have been reloading on for the last 6 years. I lke them both for different types of huills. I like paper hulls and small gauge hulls(28,410) on the PW. Everything else goes on the Dillion. The Dillion is UNPARALLELED for speed. And yes they cost a lot more and they take abit of time to master, however Dillion will totally refurbish it's loaders for FREE. PW you'll pay of a rebuild... however I've had my oldest PW all of 25 yrs. and it's still going strong! ROI: I don't know how much you shoot or how much you want to invest into your shooting, I shoot 3 times a week. One of those shoots is a potshoot, we shoot rain or shine. Once a month we have a all 410 shoot. So I get a lot of 410 shooting in a month, I shoot a flat and half per month... I been doing it for the last 15 yrs. So if you shoot anywhere near this amount, don't even give it a thought "get to loadin' " Plus I'm all about custom loads!!

I just bought my first 410 to use for bird hunting and am also having trouble coming up with much data for the 3" hull. The powder manufacturers have very little. A couple of days ago I ordered the latest copy of "Handloading for Shotgunners". It is a 2005 publication so hopefully it will have some data.
