Has anyone ever shot the 250 grain or 300 grain Barnes x bullets in a 45-70 Contender, if so what loads?
Also, did you ever use them on Whitetails?
I thought about using the MZ expander bullets for muzzle loaders but they are .451 dia.

Yes ,I have been working 45/70 Gov't loads for my contender. The hodgon web site has a load for 300 grain. Starting load 59.5 gr H4198,which I had on the shelf. Three shots was all it took for me to send it back to T/C for a muzzle tamer. Recoil without a muzzle tamer on sub 6 lb gun was , to say the least, horrendous. The muzzle tamer helps alot. I reduced the starting load 10%. That helped a bit more. I have not looked real hard, but I'm not real sure how many 250 gr,.458's are out there.
