I have tried a couple of scopes with my XVR but they don't seem to take the recoil well. I am now using a Leupold 2x20mm and it has held up very well. The problem I am having is even if close attention is paid to the mount, if it comes loose then the mount screws will be bent. So far I have not need to run a tap through my XVR but I am afraid that the bent screws will damage the base mounting taped holes. I am using red lock-tight and the proper torque but it still will loosen. I don't know when it will happen. It may be 20 shots up to 100 before it fails. It seems to happen when I move up to the heavy/hot loads. I would like to find a scope that is lighter. any suggestions?

I think you have the lighted scope out there in your Leupold. I have a Bushnell 2x6x32 on my 460 Mag and do not have a problem at all. I have well over 2000 rounds fired and the scope is as tight as the first day I installed it. I use blue lock-tight. If you want something lighter, have you considered a red-dot. I have a Ultra-dot Match-dot on my 500 Mag and one on my BFR in 45-70. They hold up well with them heavy loads.
