Howdy Woody,
I am looking to give crossbow hunting a try this year. Would one of these bows be a good starting bow? If not, can you recommend one?
thanks...jim

Hi Jim,
If you are just wanting to give crossbowing a "try" I wouldn't jump in the deep water yet.
These two are the most expensive crosbows out there.
Look a little further down the line.
In TenPoint the Pro-Fusion is a great bow at a lot less price.
In the Excalibur line the Exocet 200 is the best bet.
Since you are new be sure and get the complete setup when you buy.
The TenPoint has a Pro-View scope that is hard to beat.
Good luck and if you need any help, yuo knwo where I am at.

Woody,
Thanks for teh get-back, and I am definitely at the "I don't know I don't know" stage with x-bows.
I am thinking I will look for a used unit to figure out what I need and like.
I will indeed pester you more...thanks...jim

I have enjoyed mine. Took both deer and turkey plus enjoyed the learning to shoot it process. Rifle shooting skills will not necessarily get it with crossbows. I scoped mine and that is a plus. Regardless one must know the specific range to prevent missing and wounded animals that get away. It is fun to play with on targets.

Wood,
Thanks for the Excalibur!
For you other guys, Woodie graciously swapped me into an X-Bow for a rifle. We each think we got a good deal, so that means it was a good deal!
thanks again...jim

You're welcome jim. The final decision on the use of pistol catridge rifles in Indiana will be May 22 , but it looks VERY good to pass. Public input has been better than 4 to 1 favorable. I'm looking to scope the Ruger .44 though as my old eyes have a hard time with the factory peep.... even with the aperature out. If you have any questions about the crossbow just holler. Good luck with it hunting....it is a killer.. WW
