:)I recently got a new Parker 175# Thumbhole Magnum with 4 Power scope. I initially didn't get the performance I wanted/expected. After a # of hours of testing , using 3 different bolts and 6 different points, here are the results. First the conditions: 92 degrees, 5-7 mph variable winds, ranges shot: 20 to 50 yds, shot off card table, Hart windage adjustable front rest, Protektor # 13 rear bag. Wind flags were used. Initially the Parker(4"vaned bolts that came with the x-bow ) bolts were used with 100 and 125 g field points, Spitfires, and Thunderheads. The Thunderhead and Spitfire blade orientation was blades at 2,6, and 10 o'clock positions. 50 yd Groups were initially in the 3-4" range with the lighter points, the larger groups. This is unacceptable to me. I tried various blade configurations - no help. The 125 Spitfires were most accurate followed by 125 Thunderheads and then the 125 field points. Then the 100s in the same order. I then tried the Beman Thunderbolt with 5" 4 degree offset vanes. All of a sudden, the 125 Spitfires dropped to <2" 3-shot 50 yd groups. Almost as good with 125 Thunderheads. Worst of the 125s were the field points. The 100s were worst but in the same order. Wish I had some 150g heads to shoot. I can live with <2" 3-shot 50 yd groups.
Speed of the 175 Parker: an actual 340(exactly as advertized) with 4" vanes and 100g points. Speed with the Thunderbolts, 5" vanes and 125 Spitfires - 335'/sec. These are actual speeds in hunting mode - with Limb Saver string and limb silencers/dampners. What other than the Striker is close with this wt bolt? This bow weighs less than 7# with scope and is very easy to handle in hunting situations. I think the 175 Parker is a winner - very fast, relatively quiet, light, easy to handle and very accurate. It is a worthy consideration IMO.
