I'm not a big scatter gunner. but i have this old sears and roebuck 20 GA. bolt action and the bluing is worn off.my dads best friend gave it to me and he got it as a child. now I've been told not to blue it cause it will lose some of its value.BUT i don't think it really has any monetary value. i just want to keep it from rusting. what do you think?

Since it is more or less a keepsake I would probably just cold blue it. This you can do without vats and all cleaners, degreasing , buffing etc. Hot blueing looks better but cold bluing will help prevent rust. Either will rust a film of oil isn't applied as needed. Is this the Ted Williams model or older?

Unless I am badly mistaken "Westernfield" was the Montgomery Ward model and J.C. Higgens was Sears. Ted Williams (The Great baseball hero) let his name be used by Sears. I don't think your shotgun has great value other than keepsake value. Ben
