Picked up one of the new savage F/TR 308's thursday, cleaned it up with 200 strokes of JB's mounted a burris 6.5x24 scope. Loaded up some 168 match bullets with 3 different loads that shoot great in my tikka varmit. Was going to wait untill next week to shoot it but couldn't wait.It took 5 rounds to get it zeroed close enough to make groups at 100 yds. Below is the three groups it shot.Didn't have time to try 300 yds but will next week.Next will be to check it out at 1000yds. Not bad for a new out of the box rifle, especially the first 3 groups.think they may have been tighter but I am not use to a 6oz trigger yet. Those are 1in dots.

Once you get used to that light trigger you will like it, it will be hard to go back to a regular trigger after that. Nice initial shooting.

Nice rifle!!
Once you get used to it, I bet you're gonna make some 1 hole groups with the right loads. At least some nice clover leaf holes!!
I've got a couple model 12's, but your model is superior for the bench right out of the box. Nice action, nice trigger, nice barrel, nice stock.
I'm currently in the process of taking my 12 FV 22-250 and putting a new boyd's stock on it. I need to drill and glass the pillars in, then bed the action and lug. Hope I don't screw this up!!! I'll let you know if it improves accuracy. If it does I will glass bed my 243 BVSS too.
Good luck to you! Fred

Thanks Fred.I did luck out and get 2 one holers with the 308 savage this morning at 300 yds.One was when I was doing a ladder test to find the best load with IMR4064 with the 168 match, and the other was with a 155 pamala match useing varget. So far the savage hasn't out done my tikka varmit in 308 with groups but I think the savage will shine when I get past 300 yds. I have a model 12 lp in 22/250 and it really shoots,if you haven't tried any sierra 60 gr HP in yours I would give them a try with 34.8 or 35 grs of varget. My mod 12 is the one with the laminated stock on it,it is one pretty rifle.
