Just received my shipment of Blackhorn 209 I shot 75 gr weighed which is 110 gr in a black powder measurer I had my MLII savage ss thumbhole I cleaned the gun prior shooting including the breech plug I fired 5 Federal primers before loading I only took 3 shots at 100 yds 70 degrees with the Barnes XPB 275 gr bullet with the Harvester Crushed Rib Sabot Frost shot hit high Which I believe was a fouling shot The other two hit 1/2 in apart If all goes well tomorrow I give it another try looks like a powder I can use that will preform well without that ole crud ring In states that don't allow smokless powder The reason I think the Frost shot was a flier is this is the way my gun usually preforms after cleaning I need a fouler to get a consistent group If you are going to buy this powder make sure you have the correct breech plug There are some that will not work For one my winchester X-150 which is a cva breech plug used in bolt action muzzleloaders ;D ;D ;D ;D

Good luck.
I had an X-150, Best shooting inline i ever owned. Loved either powerbelts, hornady great plains, sst's, xtp's, Maxiballs, maxi hunters. That pig would shoot anything you put down the bore. Even shot the 360g minnies well, 3" @ 100 which wasnt to bad considering i had to pound them down the bore. The ebay seller used "soft lead". Wheel weights are not soft lol.

I went back to the range and shot 3 more Barnes XPB 275 with the red crushed rib sabot The frist shot the sabot loaded easy and shot 3in lower then the other two which hit within an inch of each other they loaded with alittle force to get down the barrel I then shot 3 300gr Barnes Semi spitzer they produced a group of 2.5in I used the black crushed rib sabot This is at 100yds I had 110 gr of powder with all 6 shots

I too have begun to "play" with this powder.
Initial impressions are VERY positive. I'm still working on a MOA load, but thus far, in all respects, this stuff behaves like smokeless.
Initial impression is that they added "something" to 5744 to make it smoke a bit.

Today I shot 3 tc shockwave 250gr bullets with HPH 12 Sabot Held a 1in group at 100yds The range doesn't open until 10:00am Temp was up to 68 degrees quite happy with the group at this temp. I had 75gr wt of powder If this powder was 5744 I would only be using 45 gr of powder so I think it the same in ways but very different in another way I like it for a black powder sub which I can usw my Savage MLII in every state I hunt wether it be smokeless or black powder sub legaly speaking

There was no significant build up of fouling I shot about 20 rounds The big plus is reloading and easy out of the breech plug no more crud ring

There was no significant build up of fouling I shot about 20 rounds The big plus is reloading and easy out of the breech plug no more crud ring I've only begun to play with this stuff. There are 46 primers missing from my CCI 209M sleeve. That said, the " big plus" is far more than reloading and BP removale. The BIG PLUS is that Western Powders seems to have taken a smokeless powder, calculated a volumetric equivalent in terms of pressure to 4759, and added enough "filth" to it to make it smoke a bit. Thus labeling it a "BP sub." With ALL DUE RESPECT, this stuff has me shooting my out of the box $200 rifle right along side a Savage 10ML 2. Again, I have respect and appreciate the Savage, and we're not talking apples to apples. My rifle is a 45 cal.

Would this powder be save to use with Powerbelts? I keep hearing this powder referred to as a smoking smokeless powder and with powerbelts it says not to use them with smokeless. Is it a sabot only powder?
