My neighbor just bought a used 7mm-08 Encore with a 15 inch bbl and a 2.5 - 7 X TC scope. Came with a bipod and canvas holster. I was at my favorite gunshop today and picked him up a box of Federal 150gr bullets. We set up a target at 80 yds and each took one shot. Neither of us have experience with a pistol of this design and power.
WOW. Recoil was extremely manageable. Shooting prone. Long eyeleif is strange and must be tough for hunting. Anyway, our shots were about an inch apart 3 inches high at 80 yds. This gun is so nice and now I think I want one.
I just can't imagine getting the rest needed to extract the potential of such a gun. What do you pistol people do to get rock solid rests with a gun like this?

For just fun shooting at the range I have fair luck with my heavy rifle rest (Witacha sp?) and the rear bag. Massage the rear bag until it supports the butt of the pistol. Similar to rifle shooting where the rear holds oll of the rifle weight and me the shakey twitchy part only pulls the trigger. Shooting a Contender 357 Herret I put my off hand on top of my shooting hand wrist to save wear and tear on my forehead.

Keep your off hand out from behind the trigger gard. Other than that, I tried to support the gun as Billc mentioned, and then also put a small bag under my right forearm to give another solid anchor point.

rifle rest as mentioned by billc,i use it for benching for load developement, after that a 26 swivel harris bi-pod & field shooting water filled milk jugs out to 350yds,tip-lean sitting against a tree or object putting outside elbows against inside of knees for support while bi-pod shootin. for offhand shooting you can make a sling out of nylon strapping & a few clips, adjust around neck & under one arm to extend with holding tension for shots under 150yds. it is definetly a challenge
