Shot my savage MLII ss thumbhole with the following bullets I used 120 gr of BH 209 with smokeeters Remington .457 with an orange mmp sabot and shot 100 yds with a 1 in group with 3 shots Also shot the Hornady .458 bullet with the Black crushed rib with 120 gr of Bh 209 I had two shots touching and the third was one inch to the right which probably caused by the barrel being too hot I also shot last week with the Dead centers 300 gr elite with their supplied sabot and held a group of 2-1/2 in with a 5 shot group Seems like the groups get tighter with the .458 & .457 bullets Also shot the barnes 300 gr with a 110 gr load with the Black crushed rib this shot a group of 1-3/4 I think if i would have used 120gr they would tighten up more This savage has so many ways to shoot its alot of fun playing with whether it be smokeless or a Black powder substitute like BH 209

I've been getting some nice results with BH209 and .458" bullets in my inlines. Haven't bothered to try the BH209 in my Savage but can't imagine it not doing great in that one too!

That's some fine shooting! I haven't tried the red CRs yet, but when mine show up I'll give that load a try.

You shot a .458 bullet with a red CR?? How loose is the bore in that gun? The reds are supposed to be tighter than the MMP HPH 12.

This load goes down very tight but the result is excellent I shot the parker 275BE with the red crushed rib and held a 1-1/4" group Seems the tighter the load the better BH 209 works The parkers loaded without much force Every barrel is different So the trick is to match a sabot with a bullet that loads tight I'll be trying more combos I think if I shot 777 with the looser fits that they would group good but the BH 209 is my choice of powder

The Parkers are .450, so the RCR would seem to be a good choice for them, you're just the first person that I've heard use a .457/.458 with the RCR. Must be a real loose bore on your gun. Good thing is you've found something that works, you can't do much better than three in one hole. Nice shooting!
