It's been many a moon since I've been able to shoot and have anything to report. I was at the field this morning with a brand new, freshly scrubbed Knight .45 Elite. (took a while to remove bore protectant), and a brand new bottle of Blackhorn 209. I boresighted this set-up last night. A mere two shots got me on zero (1 inch high at 100). After the two zero-ing shots. I fired TWO GROUPS at 100 yards, measured. No swabbing. Components are listed in pics. Here is the set-up in barrel cooling mode: Here is group one with 105 gr of BH: Here is group two with 100 gr BH: I ran one dry patch thru bore after last shot, also...spent primers in A1 shape using non FPJ plug and adapter: This Knight DISC .45 is FOR REAL! The seating pressure for each loading was even and smooth, form muzzle to breach. My bore will let a .275 Parker (.450 diam) pass thru with minimum pressure leaving rifling marks on the bullet. A slight knurling will make these bullets ideal for using as conicals in this rifle should the mood strike. More later on that aspect. In conclusion, the first two groups out of this rifle are phenominal IMO. An out of the box rifle, with a recommended load. Now....something must die. Time to break out the predator call!

What kinds of speeds should this outfit be doing? Nice shooting too. I LOVE my .50 Knight Disc and only retired it after getting the Savage. It shoots very very good with straight FFG blackpowder and Barnes MZ 250's.
Other then the filth, this is a go-to gun for me and it has killed many more deer then my Savage....due to time in the feild with it. (bigger bucks too! ;D)
What is the twist in the .45 and how dirty does the bolt assembly get?
And yes...something should die. Woodchucks come to minds as many of them have died around here this spring.

Wilmsmeyer, I think that I am just above the 2000 FPS mark w/ 105 grains. The twist is 1:30. And so far there is no blowback with this new powder. I shot all shots with no swabbing. Try some of this powder in that .50 DISC Elite! You'll be glad that ya did! It's high priced ($30 for a 10 oz container) but it's worth it. It's awesome. I have read so much about the DISC elite and found this one for $199 brand new. I HAD to have it.

Wilms, a guy on the other board posted a sub MOA 200yd group with the 200SST that averaged approx. 2450 with 120gr of BH209, pretty sure it was with a Disc elite also. Good shooting and report Kevin, stretch it out when you get the chance, like to see what you get at longer distances.

Kevin is this the disc with the orange primer holders? The reason I was asking is that I took a knight disc in on trade last year and wantd to try the BH209 in it.I took it to the range with me tuesday and didn't get time to shoot it much but first I put in about 25 grs of powder and a piece of paper towel on top and it fired right off useing the orange primer holders.loaded up a 100 gr charge and shot it once at 100 yds I had bore sighted it but was still surprised that I was on paper with one shot.so far I have only the one shot experience and was surprised to that the recoil was mild and I could see the target after I fired because the smoke wasn't very much. Going to try more when I get the time. Was afraid I would have to get an adapter because the orange disc wouldn't work but with only 2 shots it worked ok.

Do you see any benefit of the non FPJ plug vs the red jacket? Any differences in ignition of BH209? I have been using BH209 in my .45 cal DE with the red jackets and CCI primers. My buddy and I shot 30 shots or so with that setup igniting a 120 gr load of BH209 that is pushing a 200 gr SST and it went off normally everytime. Groups at 200 yards were just over MOA.

Herman, your DISC uses the orange DISC. The only way that you can use the NON FPJ breech plug is if you convert your DISC to DISC Extreme with the adapter kit. It's called the extreme conversion kit. I did my original disc that way. It cost around $80 for the kit.

Thanks fellows,I don't know if I want to put that much in it or not. Will have to think about it. I didn't have any problem with it fireing with the orange disc but the blow back was worse. Hadn't tried any other subs in it so don't really know how good it shoots. My savages have got me a little spoiled.

Is the towel placed over the barrel for cooling? I have never seen that before so I was just curious.
Thanks, John
