Hello, Iam looking for ideas, iam wanting to change out my stock on my Savage ML II, And want to go with a Laminated thumbhole stock, I ve looked at Richards Microfit Gunstocks, and boyds, but its hard to tell from the pictures are there thimbles on either for a ramrod? Or just spen the 245 and get it from RW? Iam also going to glass bed it as well.

I would spend the money and get one right from Savage or RW.They come finished and complete.I bought my thumbhole from Savage and it included the recoil pad,the sling swivels and it already had the pillars in it,(READY TO DROP IN!)The aftermarkets are nice looking but I can assure you won't be happy with the fit and finish of them. They do not come with any of the above mentioned either.

Since I have yet to see a stock come ready to drop in from anyone, I bed all of my bolt guns. My Savage stock was terrible from the factory. A little work and adding some bedding compound and it now fits like a glove. I thought you could ask Richard's to inlet for a ramrod. I may be mistaken though. Its really not that yard to do. I modified an ADL stock for my Rem 700 ML about 5 years ago. I made a jig with wood and used a router to cut the groove. Once it was cut, I taped and coated the ramrod with release agent and bedded the entire length of the forend. It worked great.
