they either put deer down where they stand , or open such a massive wound the deer can't travel very far. i use the 250 grain with 100 grains of american pioneer powder out of my mz (50 cal) a cva pro elite. accurate out to 210 yards with this load, on a bear i would probably go with a 300 grain just because of the thicker hide and fat layer.

I agree with wasp. I will also say that not many bear will stop a 250 expander either. I have shot a few dozen whitetails with 250 expanders at different angles...at BP velocities...and no bullet recoveries. Bullets that stay together bring penetration to the table...period.

i agree with wilmsmeyer if the bullet stays in tack it might not do as much damage but it brings um down you dont need exmansion to toake a deer down i shot a doe at 150 with 100 grains of powder and a 240 xtp mag and it didnt go 20 yards and you could see that the entrance and the exit the bullet did not expand but did major damage

I Used them in a T/C systemsII ,.54 cal,275 grain,140 gr Clean shot(fore runner of american pioneer).It ventilated critters quite well.
