Does anyone know the difference between their sporter and their varminter. I'm building a 358 Win on a Model 70 action. I've found a varmint stock $75 cheaper than the sporter. I plan to carry this weapon hunting and I guess I'm asking about the "carry-ability" .
Thanks.

The varmint stock is what Savage uses on one of their police sniper 308 models. It is a rock solid stock. It does weigh a bit though.

CraigF,
Thanks for the reply. Sorry about being so slow on my response as I've been out of the country for the past 3 weeks. I called H-S and they said that the varmint stock will take a barrel up to about 1.25 inches at the muzzel. I plan on about 0.63 inch at the muzzel, so I'll need the sporter stock.
